Contemporary, light filled extension to an existing heritage contributory cottage in Hampton's Castlefield heritage precinct. The site afforded excellent solar access to habitable areas, and outdoor living was a pivotal aspect of the Owner's brief. Bayside Planning Department issued a planning permit for this design, due to low visibility from the street, preservation of the original building integrity, and quality contemporary design that clearly delineated the new works.

A south facing rear yard, with existing feature trees to be retained, dictated a design to capture north sun through highlight windows, with high glazing facing south to capture views of the mature tree canopy.
